Protecting Your RV from Freezing and Moisture Damage
When temperatures drop near freezing, water left in your RV’s plumbing can expand and burst lines. Winterizing is a preventive process involving draining tanks and lines, bypassing the water heater, and adding non-toxic RV/marine antifreeze. It also includes moisture control, battery care, fuel stabilization, and seal and tire maintenance. Skipping winterization risks burst pipes, cracked faucets, dead batteries, mold, and flat-spotted tires.
Winterize before the first hard freeze (around 28 °F / –2 °C). If nights frequently drop below freezing, winterize early and de‑winterize later if necessary.
Our Winterization Services
- Drain and bypass water heater – freshwater and holding tanks, bypass kit installation, anode rod replacement if needed.
- Add RV antifreeze – filling lines and P-traps with propylene glycol antifreeze.
- Moisture control – drying interior, adding moisture absorbers, ventilating to prevent mold.
- Battery maintenance – charging, disconnecting, and storing batteries properly.
- Generator & fuel preparation – stabilizing fuel and circulating treated fuel.
- Seal & tire care – inspecting seals, adjusting tire pressures, preventing flat spots.
- Pest prevention – sealing entry points and applying deterrents.
De‑Winterization
When spring arrives, we flush antifreeze, pressurize and test plumbing, reinstall filters, check appliances, and top off fluids. A pre-season inspection ensures all systems are ready for travel.
